Lockburk, Cockie. Made by JIE Gantofta in 1950s
Designer; Anita Nylund.
Description; Inside with grease stains. Teak lid with dry crack, see picture.
H: 10 cm, Ø: 10.5 cm.
Anita Nylund designed the "Our little town" series during the 1950s for Jie-Keramik in Gantofta outside Helsingborg. The flintware series contained 17 jars, a pepper shaker and a sugar sprinkler. The objects had rounded shapes, colorful small town motifs and wooden lids. The motifs were taken from Anita's hometown of Lidköping, where her father Gunnar was a well-known artistic director at the Rörstrand factory. Seven of the cans were made for the English-language market. The last jar - "Melles marmalade" - was added as late as 1990. Our small town, with its typical warm-hearted expression, has become a classic among many retro collectors.
