Fenazon is a nasal ointment that softens and lubricates a dry nasal mucosa. Used for problems with wounds and scabs in the nose. Fenazone has a slightly anesthetic effect and constricts the vessels in the nose.
The nasal ointment is applied in a thin layer usually morning and evening. Gently lubricate the inside of the nose with the help of a finger.
The treatment should be supplemented with a saline rinse performed before application of the nasal ointment.
Do not use if you are hypersensitive to phenazone and/or lanolin or are allergic to peanuts or soybeans.
Hypersensitivity reactions have been reported for phenazone. The nasal ointment contains wool fat (lanolin), which can cause a local skin reaction (e.g. contact dermatitis) and refined peanut oil which contains traces of peanut protein, which can cause a reaction in very sensitive people.
Pregnancy: Category A No known risks when used during pregnancy.
Breast-feeding: Group II Fenazone passes into breast milk, but risk of impact on the child seems unlikely with therapeutic doses.
100 g of nasal ointment contains 5 g of Fenazone as well as peanut oil, purified water, wool fat, white vaseline.
