FRANSSONS POLKAGRISAR

In 1967, the doors to Fransson's Polkagris production were opened in Gränna by Alf Fransson. A company that would turn out to be a rich family business with two world records! Alf was born in 1941 in Gränna, at the age of 19 Alf and his uncle Helmer started a little polka pig production in Helmer's basement. Business didn't go any further for Alf, so he had to work at an electronics company to make ends meet.

After an invention he made, he had some money left over, then he chose to rent a small part of a laundry which is today their shop.
Over time, he bought the entire laundry so that it would become a real shop.

In 1989, the world's longest polka pig was baked. The polka pig was measured to be 287.8 meters long and during this day Alf Fransson was crowned the "King of the Polka Pig". He has not only made the world's longest but also the world's heaviest polka pig, which weighed 2158.7 kg. This polka pig was made in 2003 and on Grännaberget the polka pig was broken and distributed to all the spectators, during the distribution you had to donate a penny to the Children's Cancer Foundation.
