Silicol is a gel consisting of silicic acid, which is a substance consisting of the mineral silicon and oxygen in colloidal and hydrated form. Silicol gel is a product for the stomach with no known side effects and can be used regularly or as needed. It is also suitable for taking on trips as certain dietary changes can make the stomach upset on holiday.
What is silicon?
Silicon is a trace element and the earth's second most abundant element after oxygen. It exists in nature as silica and in hydrated or aqueous form as silicic acid. Many may know that silicon is a popular mineral for hair, skin and nails and is therefore often found in dietary supplements in the beauty category. Silicon in colloidal gel form, such as Silicolgel, instead has a protective effect for the gastrointestinal tract, which makes it a very broad product that suits most people with stomach problems.
Every other Swede suffers from stomach problems
As many as one in two Swedes have stomach problems every week and a full 10-15% of the population suffer from IBS (irritable bowel) according to the Stomach Report from 2019. Common complaints are gas and bubbly stomach, stomach ache, diarrhea, acid reflux etc. Most of the time, these symptoms are due to eating something inappropriate, but sometimes we simply don't know what's causing it. Gas is a common concern for many and can be experienced as embarrassing and bothersome. Gases are formed in the large intestine by the bacteria that live there. When we eat food, it is broken down into smaller components in the stomach and small intestine and then travels to the large intestine where the bacteria ferment the remains and gases are formed. Certain types of food can cause more gas than others, such as legumes, various types of cabbage, onions and dried fruit. Not chewing the food properly can also cause problems for many, so a tip is to really chew the food and eat in peace.
Silicone Gel – Function
Stomach and intestinal problems are often caused by harmful and toxic substances such as bacteria, viruses and microorganisms. When the gastrointestinal tract is disturbed by toxic substances and pathogens (substances that cause disease), it can result in symptoms such as heartburn, acid reflux, vomiting, as well as nausea, stomach pain, diarrhea and gas. Several of these symptoms can be indications of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). When digestion does not work normally, it can lead to general discomfort and physical depression.
The advantage of Silicolgel is its large and active surface area of silicic acid that forms in the stomach and intestines. After ingestion, a protective and soothing film is formed over the mucous membrane in the stomach and intestines. The adsorbing or binding ability that colloidal silicic acid has binds to itself most irritating and toxic substances in the stomach and intestines, for example disease-causing bacteria and toxins. This makes them harmless so they can be removed naturally through the intestines and out of the body.
Silicic acid can also bind gases and reduce acidity which can reduce gas formation.
USE
Recommended daily intake for adults: For the treatment of stomach/intestinal problems, take one tablespoon (15 ml) of Silicol gel 3 times daily, 1 hour before meals.
Silicol gel should not be used by children under 12 without medical advice. Silicol gel can be taken as is or diluted in water. When acute symptoms have subsided, treatment with Silicolgel can be continued for a few more days. Silicol gel also relieves symptoms in the gastrointestinal tract, such as can occur in connection with dietary changes during travel or vacation. If acute symptoms worsen or have not subsided after 3 days, a doctor should be contacted. In case of diarrhoea, it is important to compensate the fluid loss by drinking plenty of fluids. In case of chronic complaints, treatment can take up to 4 weeks.
