Salicylic acid in Essex cream from APL is used to remove scales and crusts in, for example, psoriasis. Softens and loosens the horny layer of the skin. The cream base essex has softening and protective properties and can be washed off with water.
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or to any excipient.
Salicylic acid externally reduces the effect of UV treatment and should therefore not be used in combination.
Pregnancy: Category A No known contraindications during pregnancy.
Breastfeeding: Group IVa Risk of impact on the child seems unlikely.
Overdose: Repeated treatment of large damaged skin surfaces has been reported to cause general salicylate symptoms (dizziness, ringing in the ears, nausea, vomiting, skin redness, hyperventilation), preferably in children under 3 years of age. In rare cases, severe poisoning with symptoms such as unconsciousness, convulsions, hyperthermia may occur.
