🥩 Swedish Meatballs with Lingonberry Jam
(Svenska köttbullar med lingonsylt)
A cozy and authentic Swedish classic. The sweetness of lingonberry jam perfectly balances the savory meatballs and creamy gravy.
🧂 Ingredients (serves 4):
For the meatballs:
400 g ground beef or a mix of beef/pork
1 egg
½ small onion, finely grated or chopped
50 ml milk
3 tbsp breadcrumbs
1 tsp salt
¼ tsp ground allspice
Black pepper
Butter for frying
For the gravy:
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour
300 ml beef stock
100 ml cream
1 tsp soy sauce
Salt & pepper to taste
To serve:
Mashed potatoes
4–5 tbsp Garant Lingonberry Jam
Pickled cucumbers (optional)
👩🍳 Instructions:
Mix breadcrumbs and milk in a bowl. Let swell for 5 min.
Add egg, onion, meat, salt, pepper, and allspice. Mix until smooth but don’t overwork.
Form small meatballs with wet hands.
Fry in butter on medium heat until browned and cooked through (about 6–8 minutes).
In the same pan, melt butter, whisk in flour, and cook for 1 minute. Slowly add stock while whisking, then cream and soy sauce. Simmer 5–10 min until thickened. Season to taste.
Serve meatballs with mashed potatoes, a generous spoon of Garant Lingonberry Jam, and a drizzle of creamy gravy.
💡 Tip: Lingonberry jam isn’t just a side — try stirring a spoonful into the gravy for extra depth!
