Duroferon (iron sulfate) is an iron tablet used to treat iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia. Duroferon also acts as a preventive treatment in pregnancy and blood donation.
This is how Duroferon works
In case of iron deficiency, not enough hemoglobin is produced, which can cause anemia. Duroferon helps the body to form hemoglobin, which in turn is necessary to carry oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body. The tablet releases iron gradually during its passage through the gastrointestinal tract and thus maximizes iron absorption. Duroferon also contains ascorbic acid (vitamin C).
Then take Duroferon
Adults with iron deficiency anemia: 1 tablet morning and evening. Dosage may be increased as recommended by physicians
Pregnancy prevention: 1 tablet for the evening.
The tablet should be swallowed whole with at least half a glass of water.
About side effects
Like other iron tablets, Duroferon can cause side effects, but not everyone needs them. Common side effects are sluggish stomach, nausea and stomach pain. Rare side effects that can occur are skin rashes or damage to the esophagus if the tablet gets stuck.
Duroferon can also interact with many other drugs. Therefore, read the package leaflet carefully before using Duroferon if you are taking other medicines.
