Solvenix is Sweden's only over-the-counter medicine that treats symptoms of reduced blood circulation in the legs. Solvenix reduces swelling (edema) in the legs, relieves pain, heaviness, itching, tension and calf cramps. The most common sign of reduced blood circulation (venous insufficiency) in the legs is varicose veins. Solvenix contains horse chestnut seed extract (Aesculus hippocastanum L.) and is taken daily for optimal effect. After 12 weeks, Solvenix and support stockings have equivalent effect.1 For adults over 18 years.

Horse chestnut for swollen, tired and heavy legs
At clinically relevant doses of horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum L.) as in Solvenix, horse chestnut has been shown to have positive effects on venous flow, particularly in varicose veins and venous insufficiency. The mechanism of action of horse chestnut is not fully known, but studies indicate that horse chestnut improves the elasticity of the veins (venous tone) and the permeability of the smallest blood vessels (capillary filtration), which has a beneficial effect on the venous system.1-3 After 12 weeks, Solvenix and support stockings have equivalent effect.1
What is venous insufficiency?
Venous insufficiency is a condition that occurs when the valves in the veins do not work as they should, making it difficult for blood to flow back to the heart. When the condition is chronic, it is referred to as chronic venous insufficiency and has a number of characteristic symptoms such as swollen feet and legs, pain, tension, swelling, heaviness and itching in the legs and calf cramps. The symptoms often worsen if you stand or walk for a long period of time or have a standing or sedentary job. The problem does not go away by itself and should be treated as early as possible to prevent further complications.2 Read more about chronic venous insufficiency here.
