Leijona are soft pastilles with a characteristic and distinct taste of tar and licorice. It was the pharmacist Y W Jalander who made the first tar tablets back in 1933 and sold them in his pharmacy, which was called Leijona! Since then, these licorice pastilles have belonged to the nobility of Finnish sweets.
